Description

The objective of this module is familiarizing the students with various evaluation techniques. It  focuses  on evaluating performance of distributed computer systems and consists of three parts: performance of single server systems, performance of systems with multiple servers and performance of Word Wide Web as a case study.

Assessment

There in no written exam for this module. The assessment is based on active participation in the course and two project assignments (PAs).  The PAs will be done as team work. Each team consists of 3-4 students. They must be delivered on time and the students are expected to actively  participate in the discussions.

·           Active participation         30%

·           Project assignment 1       30%

·           Project assignment 2      40%

Assignment 1- simulation of single server systems

Assignment 2- Performance evaluation of a mobile communication system

Important deadlines:

·           25/3 Build your project group

·           5/4 report on assignment 1 is due

·           8/4 Presentation of assignment 1 results

·           5/5 report on assignment 2 is due

·           13/5 presentation of assignment 2 results
