Thesis and diploma

On this page, you will find important information about what you have to do before starting your master thesis and how to get your degree after completion of your studies.

Please read these sections carefully, they contain important information regarding your master thesis projects.

  • You can do your master thesis either at KTH, at a partner university or in industry. Here, you can find a list of available projects at the Department of Microelectronics and Information Technlolgy.
  • In case you are planning to do your project outside KTH, you still need to find an examiner at KTH.
  • Before writing the thesis, you need to obtain a special cover page for the master thesis. This cover page must comply to the standard of our program and needs to be the first, i.e. the visible page of your thesis. You can find template files containing a typical example of this style from the following links.
    PDF - version

    MS-Word - version

The required KTH registration number is to be added to the first line of text of your cover page (where you find the XX in the templates). You can get this number from our secretary staff, for instance Lena Beronius (lenab@ele.kth.se) after you provided the title and supervisor of your thesis to her. When you finalize your thesis in a printed version, this cover page shall be printed on a special paper sheet of paper, which you can also get from Lena Beronius.
  • Once you finished all requirements for your final project, you can apply for your degree. To get your diploma you will have to :
    • Ask a secretary for a transcript from the study documentation (Ladok) system.
    • Find application form for master diploma at the page 'Examination and Diploma'.
    • Bring these two documents to Margareta Karlsson at the IT-university, who will process your application. The diploma will then be signed by KTH president.

Further information is available at the ' Final Degree Project ' page. Good luck with your work!
